Job Description

Title:                                 Machine Builder

Reports to:                      Manufacturing Manager

Direct reports:                Millwright Apprentices


Overview:

The primary focus of the Machine Builder is assisting in the assembly of machinery, as well as refurbishment/repair projects as required. The Machine Builder will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed safely and to the correct quality and specification on time so that delivery dates can be achieved.

Main Duties

  • Ensure all work-related functions are completed according to IRCO’s Health & Safety policies as per the OHSA rules and regulations
  • Work according to the standards listed in the IRCO Handbook
  • All work is to be completed to IRCO’s quality standards
  • Travel, as required, for installation, repairs, or upgrades of equipment at customer sites
  • Review blueprints & building plans to fully understand all mechanical parts required for completion of the assembly
  • Assist in determining the most efficient and safe build sequence
  • Assist with organization of project materials and inventory
  • Ensure all required parts to complete the build, refurbishment, or repair, are organized. Inspect all components to ensure they meet the required specifications
  • Repair or rebuild equipment as per production schedule and requirements laid out by the Manufacturing Manager
  • Assist in equipment run-off and make any required adjustments to ensure that machinery operates according to engineering specifications and ensure that IRCO’s quality standards are met
  • Advise the Manufacturing Manager when more efficient methods of production can be identified
  • Advise Operations Manager & Manufacturing Manager of all production problems, delays or rework
  • Assist in the teardown and crating of machinery for shipping as required
  • Create redlines on drawings and return to the Manufacturing Manager at the end of the build
  • Ensure workplace is maintained in a clean and tidy manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager & Manufacturing Manager
  • Mentor an apprentice if required
