Job Description

Title                                   : Welder/Fabricator      

Reports to                        : Shop Supervisor

Direct reports                  :

                                                        
Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Welder/Fabricator is to fabricate components required for the assembly, maintenance or refurbishing of equipment processed by the company. The Fabricator will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed safely and to the correct quality and specification on time so that delivery dates can be achieved.

  • Following safety guidelines with PPE and operation of equipment
  • Complete projects on time and to allotted budget
  • Ensure projects are completed to IRCO Quality standards

Main Duties

  • Ensure all work related functions are completed according to IRCO’s Health & Safety policies as per the OHSA rules and regulations
  • Review blue prints & building plans to fully understand all parts that are required to be fitted, tacked, welded, flame cut, and or saw cut
  • Advise the Lead Hand of all parts that are required to be purchased for the assembly of the component within the required schedule
  • Assist in determining the most efficient and safe fitting, welding, and de-burring sequence
  • Collect all required parts to complete the build or rebuild, and inspect all components to ensure they meet required specifications
  • Tacking, welding, and de-burring of machinery and all related sub-assembly components to required specification, and on schedule
  • Complete finish welding for the project to the required CWB welding specifications
  • Ensure all weldments are clean and free of weld splatter
  • Ensure that the alignment of finished weldment is correct after the finished welding
  • Responsible for making the appropriate settings on the welding equipment
  • Responsible to maintain the equipment issued to the welding department
  • Finish paint the product as required by the Lead Hand/Shop Supervisor
  • Report all production and quality issues to the Lead Hand/Shop Supervisor
  • Assist in the shipping and crating of machinery for shipping as required
  • Assist in the shipping and crating of machinery for shipping as required
  • Provide advice to the Lead Hand when more efficient methods of production can be identified
  • Troubleshoot problems and identify root cause of quality problems in support of providing quality customer service and warranty workmanship
  • Ensure all projects are completed with-in the budgeted amount of costs and time
  • Track and record all change orders, reworks, and cost over-runs, as it pertains to a project, reconcile all information to be entered into the data collection system.
  • Ensure workplace is maintained in a clean and tidy manner
  • Inspect all welds to ensure that they meet specifications and quality standards outlined by IRCO
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shop Supervisor
